Who Should Attend
For anyone on a construction site, it is a requirement that a principal contractor must not allow an employer or self-employed person to start construction-type work unless the employer, self-employed persons, and all workers hold "General Construction Induction Training" evidence.
 

Aim
The aim of the Construction induction course is to provide clients with an initial basic health and safety education when working within the building and construction industry.

Course Outline

On completion of this course, participants will have been provided with information on:

• Appropriate legislative requirements and responsibilities

• Basic concepts of workplace health and safety plans and work method statements

• Physical building and construction hazards

• Basic Risk Management Concepts including hazard identification, assessment of risk, control of risk and evaluation of control measures

• The hierarchy of controls

• Emergency Procedures

Pre Requisite

Participants are to provide evidence of identity on attendance at training by providing the following:

• One ID document showing photo, full name and date of birth (e.g. Passport, Drivers Licence, Proof Of Age card)

• Two Australian issued ID documents (e.g. Medicare Card, ATM Card)

Training Materials
Participants will receive course notes which includes extracts from the Work Health Safety Act 2011, Risk Management concepts, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Control Measures, Safety Dara Sheets and Basic Emergency Procedures.

During the training (classroom) participants will have access to support material for workplace safety, PowerPoint presentations and safety videos. Each participant will be required to successfully complete an in-class assessment and a practical demonstration of fitting selected Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

ASTA is responsible for delivering quality training and assessment compliant with National Standard and WHS requirements.

Mandatory Requirements
Participants are to attend training with closed in footwear and neatly attired. All participants are to engage in assessment activities to satisfactorily complete the course.

Assessment
Participants will undertake a written assessment consisting of multiple choice, true or false and short answer questions. This written assessment will also incorporate completion of a Risk Assessment, and a demonstration of fitting if Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Outcome
Participants who demonstrate competency by successfully completing written assessment and the practical demonstration will receive an Induction (White) Card and a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Work safety in the construction industry.

Delivery
The course will be delivered via a face to face format in either ASTA training rooms or at your workplace, depending on numbers, client requirements and training facilities.
